Georg Ledderhose

 

 

Georg Ledderhose was born on 15 December 1855 in Bockenheim, Germany. He studied in Strassbourg (Straßburg) and got there his medical PhD in 1880 (subject: "Über Glycosamin"). He worked as surgeon at the hospital in Straßburg where he became Professor for Surgery in 1891. Later he worked as Professor in Munich, Germany. He was considered one of the eminent medical doctors in Germany in the first half of the 20th century and died on 1 February 1925 in Munich.

 

In 1897 Georg Ledderhose published his paper that described what later became known as Ledderhose’s Disease.
